Shooting for Bangabandhu, a biographical film on Father of the Nation Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started in Mumbai of India on Thursday.
The muhurat (inauguration) of the biopic, directed by Indian director and screenwriter Shyam Benegal, was held was held at the Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari in Mumbai, following all the Covid-19 protocols, report The Indian Express and India Today.
Bangladesh and India are jointly producing the film as part of the centenary celebration of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladeshi film actor Arifin Shuvoo will be essaying the role of Bangabandhu. Nusrat Imrose Tisha will portray the role of Bangabandhu’s wife, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, actor Nusraat Faria will be seen as Bangabandhu’s daughter Sheikh Hasina and Tauquir Ahmed will appear in the role of Sohrawardy, among others.
Bangabandhu was announced during the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI). Writers Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi have penned the screenplay, with composer Shantanu Moitra attached to give the music.
