A two-day long music festival will be held at Dhaka University (DU) Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) on January 27-28.
DU music department is set to organise the festival as part of its regular academic curriculum, the department's chairperson Tumpa Samadar said at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club on Tuesday.
The university's Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman will inaugurate the event as the chief guest. Acting High Commissioner of India in Dhaka Dr Adarsh Swaika, DU Pro-VC (Academic) Dr Nasreen Ahmad, Pro- VC (Administration) Prof Dr Muhammad Samad, among others, will attend the ceremony as special guests.
Students and teachers of the music department, invited singers from India and Sri Lanka will perform at the festival, reports UNB.
The honours student, who graduated at the top of the class in 2017, will be given Nilufar Yasmin Memorial Scholarship. Besides eminent music personalities - late professor Mridul Kanti Chakrabarty and Madan Gopal Das - will be honoured at the programme.
