The fourth edition of the Joy Bangla Concert stirred the young generation with the liberation war spirit at the Army Stadium in Dhaka city on the historic March 7 that falls on Wednesday this year.
Young Bangla, one of the leading youth networks of the country, organised the event marking the day Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered the historic speech in 1971.
The celebration bore a different significance this year as UNESCO recognised the historic speech as a world documentary heritage at the end of the immediate past year 2017.
Eight leading bands - Powersurge, Shunno, Nemesis, Chirkutt, Arbovirus, Lalon, Cryptic Fate and Artcell - performed in the country’s biggest rock music show.
With the stadium gate opening at 1:30pm and the show started at 3:30pm and continued late into the night, imbuing the youths with the spirit of the liberation war.
‘Maa Go Bhabna Keno’, ‘Amra Korbo Joy’, ‘Joy Bangla Banglar Joy’, ‘Purbo Digonte Surjo Utheche’, Teer Hara Ei Dheu Er Shagor are among the patriotic songs with which the popular bands rocked the stage.
Young Bangla also took the musical show outside Dhaka for the first time this year arranging two shows in Sylhet and Khulna on March 2 and 5 respectively.
