Govt. releases film on autism Putra  Friday

The film 'Putra’focusing on autism will be released on Friday across the country.

Department of Film and Publication under the Information Ministry produced the film with Jazz Multimedia presenting it taking technical support from Impress Telefilm Ltd.

A press briefing on the film was held on Wednesday in the Dhaka Club of the city while Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu was present as chief guest.

"Government has taken a set of steps to include the unprivileged people in mainstream society for the sake of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG).
The present government has not only established the Autism Development Foundation but also secured the quota for them in the job sector. We have taken steps to train them providing health service and education," Inu said.

The minister said, "The autistics are not burden for us, rather they can be turned into asset for the society by providing them with proper care and attention. We need to change our attitude to get the benefit from the effort of the government alongside the positive assistance from all. We should include all to raise the awareness about the autism. That's why we decided to produce this film as part of our steps."

Inu called upon all to enjoy the film with family members and hoped, "The film will play a vital role to change the attitude towards the physically challenged people."

Putra, a Bangla film about autism was premiered on November 22 of 2017, will now hit the cinemas in Bangladesh on Friday. Highlighting social stigma of autism, the movie features a story of a boy with autism, abandoned by his father who refuses to accept him and blames his mother for having him, subsequently adopted by a mother who discovers his talent. The earning from this movie will be spent to develop the autistic people, reports UNB.

The movie was produced as part of the Children and Women Development Activities (4th Phase) under the supervision of the Channel I while it got the censorship to screen in 2016.

Actor Ferdous, actresses Joya Ahsan, Faria Shams Seouti and child artist Lajim played the lead roles while Azizul Hakim, Doly Jahur, Laila Hasan, Monir Khan Shimul, Shams Sums, Munira Yusuf Memi, Shormi Mala, Al Mamun, Lina Ahmed, Mahmud Sazzad, Bappa Majumder, Fahmida Nabi, Meherin, Milton Khandar were also featured in the film.

Director General of DFP Haroon Rashid wrote the story and script of the two hour length film while Saiful Islam Mannu directed the film.

Bappa Majumder, Fahmida Nabi, Sujon Arif, Taposhi Ruma, and Ratul have rendered their voices while Zulfikar Rasel and Saiful Islam Mannu wrote the lyrics of the songs.
