Citi Bangladesh recently organised its annual event “Gaane Gaane Gunijon Shongbordhona” to celebrate the lifetime contributions of renowned artiste Ferdous Wahid.
At the event, eminent musical composer, Alauddin Ali and Singer Habib Wahid spoke about the acclaimed artiste’s celebrated musical career, said a statement.
Mr. Alauddin Ali–musical composer and N. Rajashekaran - Citi Country Officer for Bangladesh, presented Mr. Wahid an honorary crest, self-portrait and a cheque for his outstanding contribution to enriching the cultural heritage of Bangladesh.
Mr.Ferdous began his musical journey at a young age of fourteen years and recently completed 40 years of his musical career. To pay homage to his father, Mr. Habib Wahid enthralled the audience with an outstanding performance of timeless classical music.
While giving his speech, Ferdous Wahid said, “I am thankful to Citibank Bangladesh for this honour and dedicate this recognition to fellow artistes and music lovers who have been a source of inspiration to me over the last four decades.”
On the occasion, N. Rajashekaran, Citi Country Officer for Bangladesh said, “Citi is privileged to acknowledge the life time achievements of Mr. Wahid. His musical brilliance and innovation is a source of encouragement to young musicians to further the cause of pop music in Bangladesh”.
Since the first “Gaane Gaane Gunijon Songbordhona” in 2004, Citi has honoured several leading musicians, namely Nilufar Yasmin, Farida Parveen, Feroza Begum, Sanjida Khatun, Shorab Hossain, Ferdousi Rahman, Sabina Yasmin, Rezwana Choudhury Bannya, Subir Nandi, Shahnaz Rahmatullah, Syed Abdul Hadi, Mitali Mukherjee and Runa Laila for their outstanding contribution to Bengali music and culture.
