There is a famous English poem named ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner,’ written by one of the greatest poets of all time, Samuel Taylor Coleridge. This is the poem that one has a quite decent chance to remember after he finishes watching the recently released Hawa trailer.
Though, unlike the poem, the film seems to have a lot of significant characters. And most importantly, Hawa is probably going to be one great milestone in the history of Dhallywood film industry, because the movie is a definite gathering of some of the most talented actors in the industry.
Chanchal Chowdhury, Shohel Mondol, Shariful Islam Razz, Nazifa Tushi, Sumon Anowar, Nasir Uddin Khan will star in the film.
However, the story, as revealed in the trailer, probably circles around a mysterious girl, who is suddenly rescued by a fishing boat from the sea. As the trailer advances, the girl can be seen to be taken as a goddess, again, as a black magician.
After the roller coaster ride of thrill for almost two and a half minutes, the trailer ends with Chanchal Chowdhury saying, “Bhoy pachchhish?” (Are you scared?), which pretty successfully breaks the fourth wall, and the viewers are anyhow shivered!
The opening scene shows Chanchal Chowdhury, along with all the other male casts, dressed as fishermen, interrogating Nazifa Tushi, but she does not answer. And in the next scene, this fact is established that she cannot talk.
The mystery becomes dense when a voice says, “So many weird things happen in the sea, but you are a girl, ‘alive’!” Both the parts of the dialogue seem totally unrelatable. But if thought deeply, it seems that the dialogue means, except for being alive, there are other things in the sea to be called weird. Does it refer to something supernatural?
Probably. Because, in the trailer, the fishermen keep failing to catch fish, after the mysterious girl rides their boat. And as a prediction, it can also be said that members of the boat start going missing one by one.
In defence of this prediction, there are two scenes that can be mentioned. One is the scene, where someone seems to go missing from the cold storage. The other scene shows Shohel Mondol, swimming away from the boat, and exclaiming in tears, saying, “I want to live!”
Again, what is the mystery behind Chanchal’s monologue, saying, “I’ve already died two times in this sea. Somehow I got to live, and my other friends became ghosts”?
Maybe instead of supernaturals, through the mystery, the story will guide the viewers to philosophies like feminism, survival instinct, economic class divisions and other relatable things.
However, all the questions that arose till now will have their answers in the theatre this Eid, once Hawa is released. This is the directorial debut of Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, one of the most talented directors of recent times.
As of now, the trailer has lived up to the mark. Whether the film does so, will be known soon.
