A watch-list to celebrate Teachers' Day

A watch-list to celebrate Teachers' Day

An American proverb goes, "If you can read this, thank a teacher."

Teachers help mold students' personalities, guide them in the right direction for future life, and help lay a firm foundation of knowledge and wisdom on which we further build our lives and careers.

Teaching is regarded as the noblest profession that creates other professions. A teacher develops us in everything from good habit building to knowledge.

Internationally recognised as Teachers Day, October 5 appreciates all the hard work and effort they put into teaching us. Today is the perfect day to shower our token of appreciation and thank the teachers who are the heroes behind our success.

To celebrate this auspicious day, here is a list of movies you can watch with your teacher.

Taare Zameen Par (Like Stars On Earth)

'Taare Zameen Par' illustrates the journey of Ishaan Awasthi, an eight-year-old dealing with Dyslexia, where he struggles to scan and inscribe while his peers can do it in a jiffy.

Unloved and taunted by society, Ishaan was never valued for his true potential until Ram Shankar Nikumbh joined the chat. Eventually, Nikumbh Sir, in an unconventional way, along with time, persistence, and care, helped Ishaan discover himself. When the movie accentuated the bonding of teacher and student, we all craved that.

Hichki

Based on the autobiography of an American motivational speaker Brad Cohen, Hichki is a comedy-drama movie starring Rani Mukherjee playing the role of a teacher (Naina Mathur) dealing with Tourette syndrome. Being an aspiring teacher, Naina continuously got rejected by schools and the obstacles life threw at her, but she never lost hope in teaching young individuals. This film demonstrates unique ways to educate underprivileged students, and Naina is an invaluable guide and guardian angel in their life as a blissful teacher.

Black

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, portrayed by Rani Mukherjee and Amitabh Bachchan based on Helen Keller, the movie Black was surely ahead of its time.

The protagonist of the movie Michelle (Rani Mukherjee) is both blind and deaf with a sort of autism. Her parents appoint Debraj Sahai (Amitabh Bachchan) to teach her some basic etiquette. Debraj's remarkable way of tutoring made Michelle bloom and develop into a normal kid.

Karate Kid

"We do not train to be merciful here. Mercy is for the weak. Here, in the streets, in competition, a man confronts you, he is the enemy. An enemy deserves no mercy," this specific dialogue delivered by John Kresse, an '80s classic showing the bonding between senpai and kohai and their quest.

Do Dooni Chaar

Starring Rishi Kapoor and Nitu Singh, this movie is based on a middle-class teacher wanting to buy his own car with savings. But not having money and from peer pressure, he thought of taking bribes. But the moral ethics hit at the right time, and he chose to stick to his teacher's values.

Chak De India

Remember Shah Rukh Khan as coach Kabir Singh who had the stain of betraying his nation? Although this 2007 movie is about women empowerment, Kabir Singh's mentorship didn't go unnoticed.
