Sometimes, you regret for never getting an opportunity to write for the national dailies, then this is the chance you have been waiting for years. Publishing write-ups in national dailies is no longer a dream anymore. Feature writing contest is going to be arranged by Dhaka University Career Club (DUCC) and this contest will work as a bridge to diminish the gap between interest and skills of the potential young writers. The key resource person of the workshop is Firoz Zaman Choudhury who is a journalist, writer, translator and social activist.
The idea is to provide skills for the potential feature writers and provide with opportunities to write for the national dailies. Journalism sector is growing and there is scope of growing further in various area like social science, science, business, arts etc. "The workshop will provide participants deep insight about feature writing and give them exposure through national dailies. "says Faiza Noshin, President of Dhaka University Career Club.
Writing and journalism is one of the few professions in which you can earn as well as learn. The research and reporting involved in producing a news article, writing feature articles, translating from various sources requires an inquisitive mind. You need to have a passion for getting deep down into a story and learning every aspect of your topic. "Writing, translation allows you to move into realms you may never have ventured into on your own," suggests Zahid Hossain Khan, Campus Ambassador of Wikipedia. He has been also working as a translator, freelance writer and researcher.
The writers can send write-ups either in Bangla or in English. The workshop will take place prior to the contest. "Attending the workshop will allow the participants to elevate their insights regarding feature writing. The workshop will cover all techniques and instructions regarding feature writing. "says Md. Wasek Sazzad, Public Relation Secretary of DUCC.
The workshop will be held on May 17, 2015, in the Faculty of Business Studies Conference, University of Dhaka, starting from 3 pm. The registered participants will be provided with certificates. Registration process will be completed within 15th May, 2015.
