Ten innovations win National Hackathon awards

Ten innovations were awarded during the two-day long National Hackathon in Dhaka city.

They were earlier selected for the awards after sorting out from 349 shortlisted innovative solutions.

Top 51 teams consisting of about 150 innovators participated at the programme.

“National Hackathon on Frontier Technologies” was organised by the ICT Division under its “Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project” with the Startup Bangladesh banner.

To solve the most citizen-centric 10 challenges of Bangladesh, this event was organised with the slogan “Think. Hack. Solve.".

The hackathon was held on the campus of Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), in the city on February 28-29, in collaboration with the “High Commission of India in Bangladesh” and “Tech Mahindra Limited (TechM)”.

The closing ceremony of the hackathon was held at IUB Auditorium on Saturday night.

Md Tazul Islam, minister for local government, rural development and co-operatives was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony.

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, state minister for ICT Division of Bangladesh, was present as the guest of honour.

On behalf of Tech Mahindra Limited, Sujit Baksi, president of Corporate Affairs, was present.

Shri Biswadip Dey, deputy high commissioner of India to Bangladesh, attended the programme and thanked the government of Bangladesh for organising such a timely event.

Apart from this, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, NDC, secretary (coordination & reforms), Cabinet Division, and Dr Mosammat Nazmanara Khanum, secretary of Ministry of Food, were special guests on the occasion.

A total of 10 university campaigns were held as part of promotions of the hackathon event.
