The Google Play has finally opened merchant account for app developers in Bangladesh.
Previously, Google would not allow app develoeprs to open a merchant account on Google Play from Bangladesh and sell apps on the app store.
App developers were only allowed to publish free Android apps and games on this platform. Now the barrier has been finally removed.
Earlier this year, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak received the assurance from the tech giant during his visit to Silicon Valley.
The currencies will be set to USD within the account for publishers in Bangladesh.
Developers will no longer have to go through creative steps in the system and monetize their apps.
As a result of being able to open merchant account on Google Play from Bangladesh, it is expected that many locally-relevant apps will make their way to the app store, enabling users to have a greater selection of apps than before.
