The Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) is going to celebrate 20 years of its journey.
The grand celebration events will kick off through ‘Youth Fest Amphitheatre’ on October 6 at Hatirjheel of Dhaka in collaboration with ICT Division of the government.
BASIS 20 Years Celebration Committee’s convener and also former BASIS President Habibullah N Karim disclosed the programmes at a press conference in BASIS auditorium in Dhaka on Monday.
The national trade body for software & IT enabled service industry will publish a book on its journey marking the celebration, Habibullah N Karim said.
The BASIS will also organise different programmes with its national, international, public and private stakeholders engaging its student and women forum.
BASIS President Syed Almas Kabir said their 20-year long journey consists of glorious and uprising years of the country’s ICT sector.
Syed Almas Kabir said their celebration programmes will also focus on the future prospect of the country’s ICT sector.
They will find recommendations for further development of the sector after consultation with experts and participants, the BASIS president said.
The Youth Fest Amphitheatre will be organised with the support of BASIS students' forum and women's forum will organise a programme titled ‘Celebrating Women at Work’.
Besides, a weeklong e-Commerce Festival will be held offering special discounts for customers and networking programme with national-international stakeholders, he added at the press meet.
Youth Fest’s Convener Delowar Hossain Faruk said that they were going to arrange the youth fest in collaboration with the ‘Skill Development for Mobile Game and Application Project’ of ICT division.
The fest includes concert, project showcasing, TechTalk, and Skill Development for Mobile Game and Application Project Innovation Workshop.
Around 7,000 students from schools, colleges and universities will join at the event on October 6.
BASIS founding president A Touhid and BASIS Senior Vice President Farhana A Rahman were present at the press conference among others.
The platform started its journey in 1997 with only 17 charter members. Currently it has more than eleven hundred members.
