State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak has said has said about 70 per cent of the victims of cybercrimes in the country are teenage girls.
The state minister came up with the information while speaking as the chief guest at a webinar titled 'Awareness of Girls in Digital Security' on Thursday, reports UNB.
He also informed that the government is going to set up 'Cyber Security Help Desk' to provide technical and legal assistance for hacked Facebook accounts.
“If you are a victim of cybercrime, you can call the National Emergency Service number 999 to get help from police,” he added.
In his speech, Palak suggested ensuring four preconditions to keep cyber-space safe. These are creating awareness at personal level, providing family and institutional education, developing technical capability and strict enforcement of law.
Meanwhile, he urged the students to be very cautious about giving passwords on internet and Facebook and sharing anything through social media.
He also urged students not to accept friend requests without verification of identity.
Palak also urged the guardians to remain careful about the children’s activities in digital platforms.
