Position: Legal Manager

Job Responsibilities
- Advising the business (including Global Supply Chain, marketing, sales & distribution, and Leaf etc.) with developing an improved understanding of tobacco and commercial regulations, as well as improved capability to communicate/discuss/align on legal issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
- Advising on commercial law, including contracts and commercial issues.
- Reviewing general commercial contracts (e.g. trading, purchasing, supply, service, distribution agreements, etc.)
- Advising the business on product or factory (including leaf-related) regulation, including reviewing developments and legislation on relevant legal and regulatory matters and informing the business.
- Advising on packaging and marketing activities.
- Advising on licensing applications and renewals.
- Advising the business on employment, data protection, consumer protection, competition, anti-corruption and bribery and other relevant laws to ensure compliance.
- Conducting corporate secretarial duties and advising on corporate governance-related issues.
- Assisting in defending the company’s interests and advocating certain corporate positions.
- Assisting in matters related to JTI’s entities in Bangladesh, including corporate governance, leases, contracts, industrial relations and labour matters.
- Other responsibilities
- Assisting the Legal team on business projects or initiatives for the Asia Pacific markets.
- Conducting and managing training, conferences, etc.
- Any other responsibilities assigned by the Legal Director from time to time.

Educational Requirements
- Minimum LL.B degree from a reputed University.
- Must have at least district court enrollment. High Court enrolment is preferred.
Experience Requirements
- Common law qualified lawyer with at least 07 years of experience.
Additional Requirements
- Experience in drafting and reviewing general commercial contracts in English and Bengali.
- Regulatory and/or litigation experience would be desirable.
- Basic awareness of employment, competition and intellectual property (i.e. trademarks, copyright, etc.) law principles.
- Ability to interact confidently with members of the organization at different levels.
- Dynamic, proactive and flexible, with an ability to identify and act upon opportunities with confidence.
