Career as a certified supply chain analyst

Supply chain management is simply working on sustainability and risk management. Sustainability is whether a person can retain the customers s/he currently has, and can meet their needs. Risk management is whether a person can get products out on time and whether the quality of products is OK. 

The primary goals of efficient supply chain management should be – faster delivery, sustainability, higher efficiency, and an accelerated cash flow. 

To become a supply chain analyst, you will need a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Logistics or a related field. You will also need several years of experience in a related role. 

The best way to get started in the field of supply chain management is to gain experience in a related position. For example, you can start by working as a purchasing agent, logistics coordinator or inventory manager. One can also improve their chances of getting hired as a supply chain analyst by earning a certificate from the association for operations management. 

You can expect to earn a competitive salary and benefits package once you successfully land a job in the supply chain industry. 

International Supply Chain Education Alliance or ISCEA Bangladesh provides internationally recognised supply chain and logistics certification programs. This is one of the best institutions to do relevant courses. 

A person has to give an exam after completing the CSCA exam by earning a 70 per cent or higher score. Upon completing the program, you will become an ISCEA-certified supply chain analyst.

Becoming an intern is an excellent first step to becoming a supply chain manager - a stable and well-paying position. Remember, the goal of the internship is educational, not occupational; it’s an investment. 

A supply chain internship is particularly beneficial because they do not usually require any prior industry-related work experience. So it’s perfect for college-going students. 

Internships are usually for a defined period. The perks include experiencing what a supply chain looks like from the inside, the networking that comes with the role and the industry, and a proper idea of what a career in this field might look like. The internship requires hard and soft skills that a person can acquire through training. 

The term supply chain management is not yet much eligible to most people in Bangladesh. Hence, the industry is wide open for skilled and knowledgeable people. 

The profession reflects everything that is developing globally - new flows of goods, new technologies, and shipping routes. These are all parts of this job which is why the job is exciting and always on the cutting edge. 

And to remain a step ahead in this field, one needs to be up and running with proper career planning as early as possible.
