THE whole country was going through a nightmarish experience as the special team of Bangladesh Army was spearheading an anti-militant operation in "Atia Mahal" at Shibbari, Sylhet. Finally, the operation has come to an end and four militants were killed. Militancy has over a period of time assumed alarming proportion in our country and cannot be taken lightly. It is high time we were united against militancy. The common people need to be conscious about what is happening around them and they should immediately take the help of the law enforcers if anything untoward is noticed by them. The government should also create social awareness against militancy.
Those who are creating unrest and destruction in the name of religion are nothing but the enemy of the religion as no religion advocates killing and creating terror. Terrorism is a global problem and we need to create an atmosphere of justice and make people aware of it so that they can take some measures against the impending dangers of terrorism. The government should declare amnesty for the people who were misled to choose the wrong path of militancy and now want to return to normal life. We cannot eradicate militancy only by using force, we have to convince young people who are misguided and imbibe in them a spirit of humanity that killing begets further killing and leads us nowhere. It is only through a sense of fraternity we can bring the misguided people back to normal life.
