THE Tigers outplayed the hosts Sri Lanka in the first One Day International (ODI) beating them comprehensibly by 90 runs. Tamim and Shakib took the game away from the Lankans with their remarkable partnership of 144 runs. This was the first time Bangladesh scored 300 plus runs in an ODI abroad. On the eve of the auspicious Independence Day, it was a great gift for the Bangladeshi people. Bangladeshi bowlers showed a disciplined approach and fielding also was crisp. Tamim's 127 and Shakib's 72 helped Bangladesh put a big total against Sri Lanka. Shabbir also played an effective role by scoring a half century to enable Bangladesh amass a big total. Now the Tigers are heading the three-match series by 1-0 and if they win today's match they will win the series keeping one match in hand. We all hope that the Tigers will not feel complacent with their success in the first ODI and play to their full potential to come out victorious. The Tigers should not relax but redouble their efforts.
