The Dhaka city dwellers are waiting for some rain so that they can get a relief from this hot, sweltering and humid weather. Every year after the Bangla New Year we witness some bouts of rain, but this year we find no such solace.
The met department often forecast that the rain will come within two or three days, but the dark cloud of rain is not appearing in the sky. There is load shedding as well as water crisis in parts of Dhaka city.
We should economise on the use of water and electricity as we know 'waste not, want not'. Due to this hot weather children and older people are the worst sufferers. The requirement of water and electricity shoot up whenever the mercury goes up for a long time.
The street juice venders are doing a brisk business. Nowadays we see green mango juice being sold in the roadside juice bars in many places and it is really very tasty and healthy during this hot, sultry summer. I hope the rain will come soon and bring the much needed relief for the city people.
