IN the last 11 months of this year, around 3,080 died and around 8,000 injured in road accidents. Although the number of accidents has reduced compared to the last year, the death toll is pretty high. Our roads have become death traps for commuters. We must improve road safety. We should also build better roads as broken and dilapidated roads are one of the main reasons for accident. CC TV cameras should be installed and those responsible for violating speed limits should be penalised. When a person dies in a road accident, the dream of a family is shattered. We must ensure that unskilled drivers remain of out of the road. The number of risky turning points should be identified and special care should be taken at those points. Many valuable lives have been lost in road accidents, so there is the necessity of safe driving and reducing causalities.
