STUDENTS seeking admission to undergraduate classes of different public universities of the country are now having a busy time. That they have to apply separately for different disciplines is making their job increasingly difficult. For example, Rajshahi University has 11 units and one has to apply for as many units as s/he can. Each unit involves admission cost that varies from university to university and is to be paid through ucash, bKash, rocket etc. If none of the services is available an applicant has to go to the service centre to fill up the form. So, along with admission charges one has to part with a sizeable amount of extra money for the purpose. Also, one has to pay extra amount of money again for processing picture for online application. All the centres are overcrowded and this is true for all universities. As a result, one is left with very little time to prepare for admission tests. Moreover, guardians have to accompany applicants and move from one university to another.
We again urge upon the authorities concerned to introduce a countrywide coordinated test for admission to different universities and thereby minimise the time and money spent for the purpose.
