ALL Bangladeshis were delighted and felt proud to know that Margarita Mamun who won a gold medal in Rio Olympics in rhythmic gymnastics is the daughter of a Bangladeshi father and a Russian mother. In Russia Margarita got the kind of training that helped her win the gold medal. Bangladeshi athletes will also be able to bring similar glory for the country if they are given proper training and coaching facilities. Marigarita's father Abdullah Al Mamun hails from Kashipur in Rajshahi and he is a marine engineer by profession and now settled in Moscow with Russian citizenship. Her mother is a former rhythmic gymnast which helped and encouraged her to excel in gymnastics. Margarita visited Bangladesh thrice. She remembered Bangladesh in her glorious moment as she said that it is a success for two countries. She now has a large following in Bangladesh. We wish her all the best.
