BORDER killing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has been going on unabated along Bangladesh-India border. It does not go well with the claim that there has been phenomenal development in Bangladesh-India relations over the last decade. Despite repeated assurance from the Indian leaders, frequent incidents of border killings have become a regular affair. This situation is tormenting and unless killings on the border is bridled, it is gong to have a bad impact on the relationship between the peoples of the two countries. The existing excellent relation between the two countries at the government level is not reflected on the border. It is indeed very unfortunate that international Human Rights Commission and Indian Human Rights Commission are keeping quiet on this issue. We should draw the attention of human rights activists around the world by involving the international media so that the outside world is informed of the bizarre killings of Bangladeshi people along Bangladesh-India border. We should also create national unity and become vocal against the brutality of the BSF men. This mindless killing should stop. We see that India and Pakistan share a hostile relationship between them, but we do not see such high number of civilian deaths on their border. We urge the Bangladesh government to raise the issue of border killings at the international forums along side strengthening its effort to solve the issue bilaterally. We strongly condemn such killings. India is known to have leaders and public figures like Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa, and Anna Hazare who exhibited exemplary virtues of peace and non-violence among peoples of the world. I am sure if the Indian government wants to stop border killing they can always follow the footprints of their great leaders.
