SOME good initiatives have been taken by the incumbent government. One of the best initiatives is no admission test in grade-1. We had seen all guardians carrying their wards in the so-called coaching centres to get admission to grade-1. Students had to memorise many things from outside their curriculum and it was undoubtedly a huge burden for them. It was not a healthy development for them either; it rather created reverse effects on them. But this scenario is again the same for admission test for grade-3. It is seen that many students of grade-2 go to coaching centres along with their guardians during their school time. Even many grade-1 students have been attending classes in coaching centres for two years to have an opportunity for admission in government schools in Rajshahi. Not very long ago, I was going to Laxmipur to visit my doctor who along with two other guardians and their children were about to board an auto-rickshaw They were going to a coaching centre. One of the guardians said, the two children admitted to the same kindergarten school but they are not going there, we are just paying the tuition fees every month.
This is not true for Rajshahi alone. This not only creates huge pressure and mental stress for them. This also hinders their smooth development. Many guardians waste their valuable time and money. At this stage no admission test should be required for the children.
I would like to request the concerned authorities to take necessary steps to stop admission test immediately which is due to be held in December for grade-3 across the country.
