THE other day, I was returning home from Dhaka university campus after completing my class. When I was passing through the walkway between Arts building and IBA, I saw some students gathering at a place at 9:30 pm. I was curious to know what happened there and so I went to the spot and saw an old skinny woman lying on the ground, her head wrapped in a bandage. Talking to the students , I came to know that the woman had been lying unconsciously from 2 pm that day and some people had thrown her down unconscious there. Some students opined that she should have been hospitalised in DMCH and others wanted to send her to an old home.
In the meantime the old woman got her sense back and told that she was from Comilla and her family members had left her. Finally a decision was taken to hospitalise her in the DMCH and after recovery she would be shifted to old home. The students' initiatives were praiseworthy. There were some female students who remained beside the old woman ignoring time deadline to enter their hall. Two days later, I was astonished and could not believe my eyes that the old woman was still there and asking for money.
