New Zealand shares edge lower

New Zealand shares edged lower on Friday as consumer staples reversed gains made earlier in the day.

Across the Tasman, the benchmark S&P/NZX 50 index slipped 0.2 per cent, reports Reuters.

Dairy company a2 Milk lost as much as 3.0 per cent and was the index’s biggest drag after gaining the same amount earlier in the session.
