Far Chemical generates highest turnover

Ten most-traded stocks accounted for 23 per cent transaction of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Monday while Far Chemical Industries topped the turnover chart.

Market insiders said investors continued to show their appetite on Far Chemical shares as its share price soaring without having any undisclosed price sensitive information.

The Far Chemical's share price jumped 69 per cent within a month to close at Tk 12.20 on Monday. Its share price was Tk 7.20 a month ago.

According to data available with the DSE, about 11.30 million shares of Far Chemical were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 135 million, which was 3.21 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 4.20 billion.

The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.36 in six months for July-December 2019 as against Tk 0.62 for July-December 2018.

The company, which was listed on the DSE in 2014, disbursed 10 per cent stock dividend in 2019.

Its paid-up capital is Tk 2.18 billion and authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion while the total number of securities is 218.09 million.

VFS Thread Dyeing came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 114 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 0.32 per cent to close at Tk 30.50 each.

Grameenphone (GP) clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 106 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 271.40, advancing 0.33 per cent.

Indo-Bangla Pharma emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 103 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 2.42 per cent to Tk 25.30 each.

Orion Infusion notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 98 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 86.70 each, losing 3.77 per cent.

The turnover of Central Pharma was Tk 87 million. The company's share price jumped 9.58 per cent to close at Tk 16 each.

Silva Pharma featured a turnover of Tk 85 million. The company's share closed at Tk 21.50, advancing 3.86 per cent.

The turnover of Khulna Paper & Packaging was Tk 84 million. Its share price rose 7.38 per cent to close at Tk 18.90 each.

The Square Pharma featured a turnover of Tk 77 million. The company's share closed at Tk 191.20, shedding 1.13 per cent.

Orion Pharma also made its way to the day's top turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 77 million changing hands. The company's share price shed 2.26 per cent to close at Tk 43.10 each.
