Capital market reopens Monday after Eid holidays

The country's capital market will reopen on Monday after five days of Eid-ul-Fitr holiday, officials said.

The trading on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) will continue from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, while the official activities on the bourses will end at 5.30 pm, starting at 9:30 am.

The stock market went into closure from June 13 on the occasion of the biggest religious festival of the Muslims.

Meanwhile, the DSE saw its last trading session before the Eid holiday, on June 12.

DSEX, benchmark index of the premier bourse, went up by 38.78 points to settle at 5,365.

Two other indexes –DS30 and DSE Shariah Index – of the DSE followed suit to close at 1,965 and 1,238 points, after gaining 5.23 points and 9.72 points respectively.

Overall trading activities on the premier bourse increased slightly, with the total turnover rising to Tk 4.57 billion on June 12, from the previous session’s Tk 4.50 billion.

On the last trading session before the Eid holiday, the CSE also closed higher with its CSE All Share Price Index, CASPI, advancing 115 points to settle at 16,511 and Selective Categories Index, CSCX, gaining 69 points to finish at 9984 points.

The port city bourse traded 3.27 million shares and mutual fund units worth more than Tk 133 million in turnover.
