Top 10 traded companies captured more than 25 per cent transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Sunday with BBS Cables dominating the chart.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 3.08 million shares of BBS Cables were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 367 million, which was 4.48 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange stood at Tk 8.18 billion which was Tk 7.03 billion in the previous session.
Share price of BBS Cables hovered between Tk 116.90 and Tk 122 each, before closing at Tk 118.20, advancing 0.08 per cent over the previous day. Last week, the share price jumped 12.69 per cent.
The BBS Cables signed a Tk 936 million agreement with Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) on July 25 under distribution network expansion for 100 per cent electrification project for the supply of conductor.
After the deal signing news, investors were showing their enthusiasm in the company's shares.
The company's (un-audited) earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 2.31 for January-March 2018 as against Tk 0.86 for January-March 2017.
In nine months for July 2017-March 2018, its EPS was Tk 5.84 as against Tk 2.34 for July 2016-March 2017.
The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.50 for July 2017-March, 2018 as against Tk 4.53 for July 2016-March 2017.
The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 22.08 as on March 31, 2018 and Tk 19.17 as on June 30, 2017.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.38 billion, authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion and the total number of securities is 138 million.
The other most active shares in terms of value included Saiham Textile, Shepherd Industries, IFAD Autos, Simtex Industries, Paramount Textile, Regent Textile, Legacy Footwear, Aman Cotton Fibrous and Hamid Fabrics.
Saiham Textile followed next, with shares worth Tk 262 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 33.80 each, advancing 0.89 per cent over the previous day.
Shepherd Industries notched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 242 million changing hands. The company's share price jumped 9.77 per cent to close at Tk 33.70 each. It was also the day's top gainer.
IFAD Autos emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 202 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 122.10 each, advancing 1.58 per cent.
The turnover of Simtex Industries was Tk 177 million. The company's share price fell 1.89 per cent to close at Tk 46.70 each.
Paramount Textile featured a turnover of Tk 167 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 66.10 each, losing 0.15 per cent.
The turnover of Regent Textile was Tk 166 million. The company's share price rose 7.20 per cent to close at Tk 26.80 each.
Legacy Footwear featured a turnover of Tk 156 million. Its share price advanced 2.63 per cent to close at Tk 272.80 each.
The turnover of Aman Cotton was Tk 152 million. The newly listed company's share price closed at Tk 64.30 each, plunging by 9.81 per cent.
Hamid Fabrics was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 151 million changing hands. The company's share price gained 3.01 per cent to close at Tk 30.80 each.
