Top 10 traded companies captured nearly 28 per cent transaction of the Dhaka bourse on Tuesday while BBS Cables topping the chart for fourth straight day.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 2.23 million shares of BBS Cables were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 275 million, which was 4.74 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 5.80 billion, which was Tk 6.48 billion in the previous session.
The share price of BBS Cables hovered between Tk 121.60 and Tk 125.80 each, before closing at Tk 122.30, advancing 0.58 per cent over the previous day.
The BBS Cables signed a Tk 936 million agreement with Bangladesh Rural Electrification Board (BREB) on July 25 under distribution network expansion for 100 per cent electrification project for the supply of conductor.
After the deal signing news, investors were showing their enthusiasm in the company's shares.
Accordingly, its share price jumped nearly 25 per cent or Tk 24.40 each since July 25 last.
The company's (un-audited) earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 2.31 for January-March 2018 as against Tk 0.86 for January-March 2017.
In nine months for July 2017-March 2018, its EPS was Tk 5.84 as against Tk 2.34 for July 2016-March 2017.
The net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was Tk 0.50 for July 2017-March, 2018 as against Tk 4.53 for July 2016-March 2017.
The net asset value (NAV) per share was Tk 22.08 as on March 31, 2018 and Tk 19.17 as on June 30, 2017.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.38 billion, authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion and the total number of securities is 138 million.
The BBS Cables disbursed 5.0 per cent cash and 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2017.
The other most active shares in terms of value included IFAD Autos, Hamid Fabrics, Shepherd Industries, Active Fine Chemicals, United Power, Dragon Sweater, KDS Accessories, Bashundhara Paper Mills and Saiham Textile.
IFAD Autos followed next, with shares worth Tk 255 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 125.80 each, advancing 2.11 per cent over the previous day.
Hamid Fabrics notched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 233 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 4.54 per cent to close at Tk 32.20 each.
Shepherd Industries emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 155 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 34.10 each, losing 3.40 per cent.
The turnover of Active Fine Chemicals was Tk 121 million. The company's share price gained 4.18 per cent to close at Tk 37.30 each.
United Power was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 120 million changing hands, followed by Dragon Sweater Tk 115 million, KDS Accessories Tk 114 million, Bashundhara Paper Mills Tk 112 million and Saiham Textile Tk 107 million.
