Ten most-traded companies captured one-fourth transaction of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) Monday while Fortune Shoes topped the chart for the six straight sessions.
Market analysts said investors remained active on Fortune shares after the company posted a 35 per cent earnings growth in January-March, 2019 quarter.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.54 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 0.40 for January-March 2018.
In nine months for July 2018-March 2019, its EPS was Tk 1.67 as against Tk 1.19 for July 2017-March 2018.
According to statistics from the DSE, with 2.56 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on the day, generating a turnover of Tk 96 million, which was 3.14 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.05 billion on Monday which was Tk 3.58 billion in the previous session.
The company's share price closed at Tk 37.30 on Monday, losing 1.58 per cent over the previous session.
The company's share traded between Tk 27.70 and Tk 40.40 in the last one year.
The Fortune Shoes, which was listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.25 billion, authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion and the total number of securities is 124.93 million.
The sponsor-directors own 30.93 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 10.34 per cent and the general public 58.73 per cent as of March 31, 2019.
Oimex Electrode followed next, with shares worth Tk 89 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 1.36 per cent to close at Tk 36.20 each.
Esquire Knit Composite clinched the third spot, with shares worth more than Tk 78 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 47 each, shedding 4.47 per cent over the previous day.
DESCO emerged fourth with shares worth nearly Tk 78 million changing hands. The company's share price rose 1.65 per cent to close at Tk 49 each.
Indo-Bangla Pharma notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 77 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 26.20, losing 3.32 per cent.
The turnover of Power Grid Company was Tk 74 million. The company's share price fell 1.80 per cent to close at Tk closed at Tk 65.10 each.
Square Pharmaceuticals featured a turnover of Tk 70 million. The second largest market cap company's share closed at Tk 255 each, shedding 1.0 per cent.
The turnover of Grameenphone (GP) was Tk 70 million. The largest market cap company's share price fell 1.22 per cent to close at Tk 348.10 each.
Jamuna Bank featured a turnover of Tk 66 million. The bank's share closed at Tk 19 each, losing 0.52 per cent over the previous day.
Monno Ceramic Industries also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 62 million changing hands. The company's share price inched up by 0.04 per cent to close at Tk 235.60 each.
