Top ten traded companies captured more than 30 per cent turnover of the prime bourse on Tuesday.
Khulna Power Company topped the list.
According to statistics available with the DSE, about 5.35 million shares of KPCL were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 372 million, which was 5.82 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
Market insiders said the investors showed their buying appetite on Khulna Power's shares at lucrative price level.
In the past one and a half months, the power generation company's share price slumped Tk 73.30 each or 53 per cent to reach at Tk 66 on Monday. Its share price was Tk 139.30 on October 10, 2018.
The company's share price, however, rose 4.84 per cent to close at Tk 69.20 each. Its share traded between Tk 53 and Tk 144.90 each in the last one year.
Khulna Power, which was listed on the DSE in 2010, recommended 30 per cent cash and 10 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018. The company disbursed 55 per cent cash dividend in 2017.
The company has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 6.18, net operating (NAV) per share of Tk 26.87 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of Tk 2.09 for the year ended on June 30, 2018 as against Tk 5.07, Tk 26.20 and Tk 4.78 respectively for the same period of the previous year.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 3.61 billion, authorised capital is Tk 7.0 billion and the total number of securities is 361.28 million.
Berger Paints followed next, with shares worth Tk 240 million changing hands. The multinational company's share price closed at Tk 1432 each, advancing 4.60 per cent over the previous day.
United Power clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 196 million changing hands. The power generation company's share price fell 0.38 per cent to close at Tk 311.10 each.
Saiham Cotton Mills emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 190 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 27.50, advancing 2.61 per cent.
Western Marine Shipyard notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 174 million changing hands. The company's share price soared 7.50 per cent to close at Tk 21.50 each.
