Ten most traded firms accounted for more than one-fourth of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday, with LafargeHolcim making it to the top of the turnover chart for the 12th straight session.
Market operators said investors continued to rush into LafargeHolicm shares as the Supreme Court recently approved amalgamation of its subsidiary Holcim Cement (Bangladesh) with its parent company LafargeHolcim.
According to the DSE data, about 4.42 million shares of LafargeHolcim were traded on the day, generating a turnover of Tk 207 million, which was 5.49 per cent of the day's total turnover of Tk 3.76 billion.
The multinational cement manufacturer's share closed at Tk 46.60, down 1.30 per cent over the previous day.
The company's consolidated earnings per share (EPS) in nine months for January-September 2019 was Tk 1.01 as against Tk 0.42 for January-September 2018.
LafargeHolcim, listed on the DSE in 2003, disbursed 10 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2018.
The company's paid-up capital is Tk 11.61 billion and authorised capital is Tk 14 billion while the total number of securities is 1.16 billion.
The sponsor-directors own 64.68 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 15.83 per cent, foreign investors 1.0 per cent and the general public 18.49 per cent as of Januray 31, 2020, the DSE data show.
ADN Telecom came in second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 152 million changing hands. Its share price rose 6.60 per cent to close at Tk 46.80.
Indo-Bangla Pharmaceuticals clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 91 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 22.80, advancing 2.24 per cent.
Bangladesh Shipping Corporation emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 85 million changing hands. The state-run company's share price fell 3.01 per cent to Tk 48.30.
Bangladesh Submarine Cable Company notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 83 million changing hands. Its share closed at Tk 101.80, shedding 1.64 per cent.
The turnover of Silco Pharmaceuticals was Tk 79 million. The company's share price jumped 10 per cent to close at Tk 25.30.
BBS Cables featured a turnover of Tk 67 million. The company's share closed at Tk 64.40, falling 2.12 per cent.
The turnover of ML Dyeing was Tk 66 million. The company's share price rose 4.74 per cent to close at Tk 48.60 each.
Advent Pharma featured a turnover of more than Tk 63 million. The company's share closed at Tk 26.40, gaining 4.76 per cent over the previous day.
Coppertceh Industries also made its way to the week's top turnover chart.
