BSEC has directed all TREC holders to extend the facility considering the pandemic.
The loan ratio against the investment will be 80 per cent if the DSE main index DSEX remains below 8000, said the BSEC (Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission) in an order on Thursday.
It was previously below 7000.
On the other hand, the loan facility will be down to 50 per cent if the index crosses 8001 and above.
Investors can enjoy the loan facility from the TREC (Trading Right Entitlement Certificate) holders under the margin loan rules issued in 1999.
Such loan facility, however, has many risks as the TREC holders themselves sell the instruments without any consent of the investors when the prices of the stocks fall under some levels stipulated in the rules.
The DSEX on Thursday was 6699.
