Reckitt Benckiser declares record 1250pc dividend

Reckitt Benckiser (BD) Ltd has declared a record 1250 per cent cash dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2019.

The investors will get Tk 125 per share of face value of Tk 10 each.

The board of directors of the company in a virtual meeting on Thursday recommended the dividend and approved the audited financial statements for the year ended on December 31, 2019, according to an official disclosure on Friday.

This is also the highest dividend declaration of the company after listing on the Dhaka Stock Exchange.

The company disbursed 700 per cent cash dividend in 2018, 790 per cent cash in 2017, 775 per cent cash in 2016 and 650 per cent cash dividend in 2015, the DSE data showed.

The annual general meeting will be held on June 3 through digital platform due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

The record date is May 11. If the record date falls on the general holiday due to extension of shutdown to curb the spread of coronavirus, the record date would be the fourth market day after resumption of trading in the bourses, said the disclosure.

The company has also reported earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 131.06, net asset value (NAV) per share of Tk 142.64 and net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) of Tk 176.55 for the year ended on December 31, 2019.

Each share of the multinational company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 1987, closed at Tk 3139 on March 25, before the general holiday started.

The company’s share traded between Tk 2,042.10 and Tk 3,687 in the last one year.

The company’s paid-up capital is Tk only Tk 47.25 million and authorised capital is Tk 250 million while total number of securities is 4.72 million.

The sponsor-directors own 82.96 per cent stake in the company, while government owns 3.77 per cent, institutional investors own 3.49 per cent, foreign investors 3.01 per cent and the general public 6.77 per cent as of February 29, 2020, the DSE data showed.

Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) is a subsidiary of Reckitt Benckiser Group plc. The company is engaged in consumer health and hygiene business, offering products such as lubricants, disinfectant cleaners, dishwashing detergents like Dettol, Harpic, etc.
