The posts of managing directors (MDs) at both the stock exchanges of the country have remained vacant due to delay in completing the appointment process.
Presently, two senior officials are working as acting managing directors at both the Dhaka and Chittagong Stock Exchanges.
The three-year tenure of the immediate past managing director of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) KAM Majedur Rahman expired on July 11 last.
Before completion of his tenure, the DSE management approved the reappointment of Mr Majedur for another three-year term.
In May, the premier bourse also sought the consent of the securities regulator for the reappointment of Mr Majedur.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC), however, has yet to give consent to the reappointment of the DSE's managing director.
Meanwhile, the tenure of M Shaifur Rahman Mazumdar, the immediate past managing director of the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), expired on May 31 last.
To fill the vacant post, the port city bourse published advertisements twice inviting applications from the aspiring candidates.
But no candidates were found eligible among the applicants, said a CSE official.
The port city bourse will again invite applications for the post, he added.
