The ten most-traded companies accounted for nearly 30 per cent of transactions on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on Thursday, with Fortune Shoes dominating the chart for the fourth straight day.
Market insiders said investors showed their appetite for Fortune Shoes after the company posted a 35 per cent earnings growth in the January-March 2019 quarter.
The company's earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.54 for January-March 2019 as against Tk 0.40 for the same period in 2018.
Its EPS for nine months from July 2018 to March 2019 was Tk 1.67 as against Tk 1.19 for July 2017-March 2018.
According to the DSE data, 4.95 million shares of Fortune Shoes were traded on Thursday, generating a turnover of over Tk 192 million, making up 5.10 per cent of the DSE's total turnover.
The total turnover on the DSE stood at Tk 3.76 billion on Thursday, up from Tk 3.31 billion in the previous day.
The company's share closed at Tk 38.50 on Thursday, losing 1.28 per cent after soaring 4.0 per cent in the previous session.
The company's share traded between Tk 27.70 and Tk 40.40 in the last one year.
The Fortune Shoes, listed on the DSE in 2016, disbursed 15 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2018.
Indo-Bangla Pharma came second on the turnover chart, with shares worth Tk 150 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 28, advancing 2.94 per cent.
The recently listed Esquire Knit Composite clinched the third spot, with shares worth Tk 136 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 51.10, gaining 3.44 per cent over the previous day.
Kattali Textile emerged fourth with shares worth Tk 99 million changing hands. The company's share closed at Tk 21.60 each, soaring 4.85 per cent.
Fine Foods notched the fifth spot, with shares worth Tk 94 million changing hands. The company's share price fell 2.23 per cent to close at Tk 43.90 each.
The turnover of Monno Ceramic was Tk 89 million. The company's share price closed at Tk 236.50, advancing 0.98 per cent over the previous day.
SS Steel featured a turnover of nearly Tk 89 million. The company's share closed at Tk 33.40 each, soaring 6.70 per cent over the previous day.
Genex Infosys featured a turnover of Tk 88 million. The company's share closed at Tk 47.90 each, falling 2.24 per cent over the previous session.
The turnover of Power Grid Company was Tk 87 million. The state-run company's share closed at Tk 63 each, shedding 1.56 per cent over the previous session.
Intraco Refueling Station also made its way to the top 10 turnover chart, with shares of Tk 81 million changing hands. The company's share price soared 7.35 per cent to close at Tk 24.80 each.
