Most of the securities included in DS30 index lost prices between 0.2 per cent and 15.44 per cent in last week amid sharp fall observed on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
The DS30 index comprising blue chip securities also declined 1.06 per cent or 20.01 points to close at 1876.06 after five sessions of last week.
Of 30 securities, the share prices of 21 declined on the premier bourse.
Md. Moniruzzaman, managing director of IDLC Investments, said some of companies included in DS30 index witnessed price correction as their earnings declined.
"The market was also in a down-trend in last week. That's why, the overall declining trend of the market left a negative impact on the prices of some other companies," Moniruzzaman said.
Stocks included in DS30 index have a float-adjusted market capitalisation worth above Tk 500 million.
As a result, such securities play a vital role behind the ups and downs of the market because of large market capitalisation.
Of the securities included in DS30 index, the share price of IFAD Autos declined 15.44 per cent to close at Tk 105.10 in five sessions of last week.
Of other securities, the share price Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills declined 13.11 per cent to close at Tk 83.50, LankaBangla Finance 12.26 per cent to close at Tk 22.90, BSRM Steels 11.60 per cent to close at Tk 61.70, Beximco Pharmaceuticals 4.42 per cent to close at Tk 73.50, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh 4.30 per cent to close at Tk 48.90, and Olympic Industries 8.11 per cent to close at Tk 227.50.
Of the companies, LankaBangla Finance has reported a loss of Tk 0.24 for July-September 2018 as against the earnings per share (EPS) of Tk. 0.90 for July-September 2017.
Of other securities, the share price of Orion Pharma declined 2.12 per cent to close at Tk 36.80, Padma Oil Company 0.69 per cent to close at Tk 228.70, RAK Ceramic (Bangladesh) 6.12 per cent to close at Tk 38.30, Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company 2.65 per cent 36.60, Unique Hotel & Resorts 6.42 per cent to close at Tk 52.40, United Power Generation and Distribution Company 5.60 per cent to close at Tk 332.
The price of ACI declined 0.20 per cent to close at Tk 247.70, Al-Arafah Islami Bank 2.06 per cent to close at Tk 19, BATBC 1.31 per cent to close at Tk 3307.80, The City Bank 0.61 per cent to close at Tk 32.40, Heidelberg Cement 1.05 per cent to close at Tk 337.30.
Among remaining securities, which witnessed correction in last week, the share prices of Square Pharmaceuticals, Summit Power, and National Bank Limited declined marginally.
Of the securities, which advanced, the share price of IDLC Finance rose 5.98 per cent to close at Tk 65.50in last week.
