The Dhaka bourse edged up on Thursday, as investors showed their buying spree on sector specific issues.
The market started the day on a positive note with slow trading and continued the upward trend for a while. Soon later, the DSE broad index DSEX went down below the starting market.
Afterwards, the market witnessed a recovery stance and the DSEX added 1.07 per cent or, 60.72 points to 5695.77, when the report was filed at 1:20pm.
Of the major sectors, engineering, pharmaceuticals and mutual funds showed an effort of playing market supportive role.
On the other hand, the bank and financial institutions performed mixed.
The shariah based index DSES and DS30 index comprising blue chip securities also rose marginally.
Of total issues are being traded, 259 advanced, 47 declined and 23 were unchanged and the turnover stood at above Tk 2138 million, also at 1.20pm.
Of the securities, mutual funds were in top gainers list of the premier bourse.
Following investors’ increased participation, BRAC Bank was on top of the turnover chart, followed by Queen South Textile Mills, Ifad Autos, Monno Ceramics, and LankaBangla Finance Limited.
