The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) have extended the trading time by 30 minutes in line with the banking hours effective from today (Monday).
Trading on the DSE and CSE will start at 10:00 am and continue until 12:30 pm, the bourses said in separate statements on Monday.
“Due to the ongoing pandemic situation and interest of the investors, DSE trading period will be continued from 10:00am to 12:30pm and post-closing session from: 12:30pm to 12:45pm with effect from today (Monday) until further instruction of BSEC,” said a DSE statement.
Earlier on April 4, the bourses reduced the trading time to two hours -- from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon -- instead of the regular four and a half hours in line with the banking hours.
However, the central bank on Sunday extended the banking hours by half an hour after clients rushed to branches to withdraw cash as the country is set to go into a strict lockdown from April 14 to tame the raging coronavirus.
Bank clients can carry out transactions between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm on April 12 and April 13, according to a central bank notice.
So, the bourses also extended the trading time by half an hour as share trading activities depend on bank transactions, said a DSE official.
