The Bangladesh Institute of Capital Market (BICM) has announced an inter-university capital market case competition for undergraduate and graduate students.
Registration for the contest opens today (Monday) and will close on October 05.
It is aimed to grow the participants' interest in the capital market apart from taking the segment of the financial market as their career goals.
Through this contest, university students will be able to utilise their theoretical and analytical skills in solving practical investment scenarios.
BICM sources said it will ignite the participants' latent talent at different challenging stages to test their investment knowledge and ability to work in team under pressure.
"This will help increase their presentation skills and analytical ability to a large extent," said Md Habibullah, an assistant professor of the BICM, the first-of-its-kind government institute on the capital market.
Teams comprising four members each have to be registered by clicking 'Invest Maestros' website (www.investmaestros.com), a BICM press statement said.
After completing registration, the teams will be redirected to a page that contains necessary instructions along with a link to the case.
They have to submit it within the October 06 deadline.
The BICM will announce the online round on October 07. The best 40 teams will qualify for second round.
The second round is the semifinal of the competition. Top eight teams will be chosen for the round.
A daylong workshop will take place on October 12 where the issues of the contest will be discussed in details.
The BICM said teams from other than Dhaka division will get transport allowance for participating in the semifinal round.
The five-day final round will begin on October 12 comprising a workshop.
The first semifinal will take place on October 13.
The second workshop will be held on October 14 and the next day (October 15) will be final case competitions.
The BICM will organise a closing ceremony with a gala dinner on October 16.
According to the release, a panel of judges will choose the champions, runners-up and second runners-up based on the teams' presentation, ideas and innovations. Finance Minister AMA Muhith is expected to join the closing ceremony.
The Financial Express (FE) is the media partner of the competition. The BICM was established as a national institution for imparting practical capital market education and training on July 24, 2008.
It is gradually emerging as a centre of excellence for professional development of capital market intermediaries and full spectrum of market professionals through disseminating recent and updated theoretical and practical knowledge.
