Australia thrashed Bangladesh in their 4th match of the T20 World Cup with a thumping 8 wickets victory. The Aussies chased down the 4th lowest T20I score with record 82 balls to spare.

Batting first, Bangladesh were all out for just 73 runs, marking their worst batting performance of the tournament this year.

The Aussie bowlers got a couple of early wickets just like any other opponent that plays against Bangladesh. Wickets continued to fall in twos and threes after the routine departure of Liton and Soumya.

Mushfiqur, Soumya, Liton, Afif and Mahedi combinedly scored just 6 runs. Unsurprisingly, the tailenders couldn’t take the team into a decent total in the end.

The Australian innings started with a 4-run over from Taskin Ahmed. In the second over, Mustafizur showed some glimpses of his poor form in the tournament, conceding a four and a six.

Aaron Finch tried to wrap up fast, struck 2 sixes in a Taskin-over but ended up getting bowled out to him in the very next delivery.

Mustafizur, the bowler who bowled spells conceding less than 10 at Mirpur against the same opponent, ended up getting hit for 6 boundaries in just 2 overs.

The only achievements for the Bangladeshi bowlers were 2 wickets of Warner and Finch taken by Shoriful and Taskin respectively.

Adam Zampa was chosen the Player of the Match for his spell of 5 for 19 runs.

With this win, Australia goes up in the points table with better NRR than South Africa. On the other hand, Bangladesh end yet another T20 World Cup without a single Super 12 win.

In fact, Bangladesh haven't beaten any test playing nation in all the 7 editions of T20 World Cups they have participated in, except from that one-off win against West Indies in 2007, thanks to a Mohammad Ashraful innings.
