World T20 2021 has provided its fans with some incredible moments. It has delighted the fans with some historic games.
Among all the performances, some has broken the world records with batting, some with bowling and some just with their presence.
Here we highlight some of the world records that were broken or created in this World T20 2021 in the UAE.
1000+ runs in a calendar year
This was a moment much awaited for the fans. Mohammad Rizwan entered the world cup with 852 runs in T20Is this year.
And against Australia in the semi-finals, he touched the landmark and reached 1000 runs in a calendar year.
He currently stands at 1033 runs. And he has the chance to add more as a series against Bangladesh is about to begin in 48 hours.
Most Wickets in a calendar year
This was a record broken twice by two bowlers in this World Cup.
First Hasaranga, who started with 20 wickets, took a colossal 16 wickets and broke the previous record of 31 wickets in a year. Hasaranga also broke the record of most wickets in a single edition of World T20 in the process, edging another Sri Lankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis (15 wickets in 2012).
A few days later, Tabraiz Shamsi picked up his 36th wicket this year by dismissing Moeen Ali.
Most hat-tricks
Curtis Campher took 4 wickets in 4 deliveries against Netherlands. Then Hasarnga joined him with a hat-trick against South Africa.
And then Rabada, in his last over in the tournament, made sure that World T20 2021 witnesses the most hat-tricks ever in a single tournament; the previous best was 2.
Fastest to 2500 runs
Babar Azam has already established himself as one of the most incredible batters of the generation, more so in the shorter versions.
Against Australia, he reached the landmark of 2500 runs. And he became the fastest batter to do so taking only 62 innings. The previous record was 68 innings by Virat Kohli.
Babar is one of the 8 batters to do so. The way he is moving, he'll most probably end up breaking all the batting records there is.
Fastest to 100 wickets
Rashid Khan is already touted as one of the greatest T20 bowlers ever, and why not.
Only 4 bowlers have reached the 100 wicket milestone. But nobody could do it as quick as Rashid.
Against Pakistan, he took his 100th wicket while bowling in his 53rd innings only. He has beaten the previous record holder Tim Southee (78) by quite some distance. And like Babar, he might also end up breaking every bowling record possible.
Most wins as a captain
MS Dhoni held this record for a long time before Asghar Afghan dethroned him. However, now the crown is with Eoin Morgan.
With the win against Sri Lanka, he became the captain with the most number of wins in T20I with 43 wins. Currently, he stands at 44 and there is surely many more to go.
Most consecutive matches played
This record was jointly held by Asghar Afghan and Richie Berrington playing 62 games in a row. But being fielded against Bangladesh in the qualifying round, Richie Berrington made the record his own. He is now at 70 and still counting.
