Unique feats accomplished in Olympics 2021

Olympics for over a century now has not only been the pinnacle of sports achievement but also has been a place of numerous stories and unmatched greatness.

Many athletes have cemented their legacy most concretely over the century in Olympics. It has also been the storehouse of many great fairy tales of sporting spirit.

we’re going to shed some light on such stories of the Tokyo Olympics which are second to none - performances and stories that are delightful in the Olympics history.

Ma Long keeps his supremacy

Ma Long has been touted as arguably the greatest table tennis player ever. And he has left absolutely no room for anyone to doubt that in Tokyo. He won the singles gold by beating fellow Fa Zhendong and then helped his team to win the Men’s team gold to uphold China’s dominance in the event.

With this, he became the first-ever table tennis player to win five Olympic gold medals. He also becomes the only player to win consecutive gold medals in Men’s single table tennis.

Katie Ledecky becomes the queen of the pool

She was one of the biggest names in Tokyo this year. Although could not match the expectations, she won gold medals in 800 and 1500 meter freestyles. And that was enough to create history as she became most Olympics gold medals winner as a female swimmer and second most after legendary Jenny Thompson (eight gold medals) with seven golds beside her name.

South Korea’s Event

South Korea always enters the competition as favourites. And no one can really argue about that as they won 27 out of 45 possible golds since 1972. Hence, South Korea winning gold is not really astonishing anymore.

However, there’s a thing called cementing the legacy of greatness that the South Korean women’s Archery team did. They won the ninth consecutive gold in women’s archery breaking the record of most consecutive gold medals in any discipline of Olympics.

Goal Machines

The Netherlands could only go as far as quarter-finals in women’s football. But their striker Vivianne Miedema scored a mammoth number of 10 goals which is the most ever by a female in a single Olympics.

On the other hand, Zambia’s Barbra Banda becomes the first footballer to score two hat-tricks in a row after she scored three goals against both Netherlands and China.
