Tigers’ chance to corner Aussies further in second T20

Bangladesh clinched their first-ever T20 win against Australia, a historic one that makes Australia the fourth team against whom Bangladesh emerged victorious in all three formats.

However, there isn't much to celebrate as Tigers has less than 21 hours to prepare themselves for the second encounter of the five-match series.

For Australia, they got less than 21 hours to correct what they did wrong.

Australia is struggling in the T20s since the covid outbreak as they managed to win only five out of 17 matches since the restart of cricket. They would desperately hope someone else to step up except Mitchell Marsh which has been the case in their last series against the Windies, and on Tuesday too.

With regular captain Aaron Finch not present in the squad, they started with a different batting lineup with Alex Carey and Josh Philippe opening which turned out to be even worse. It’d be interesting to see if they stick to the same lineup or come up with something different today.

Australia, however, would have little complaint about their bowling as they did a good job restricting Bangladesh to 131 and giving only four extras. Also, this is the best bowling lineup they have for this sort of condition. Don’t expect any change here.

Bangladesh on the other hand should have no complaints about their bowling lineup since they all bowled economically, not to mention, beautifully. But they must demand more from their batsmen, especially from the top order to set the tone even higher.

Taking the advantage of the powerplay is a concerning issue. Soumya Sarkar is expected to continue despite his poor show in the first game. It would be interesting to see if Afif gets a promotion in the batting order after his good form with the bat. His little cameo of 26 runs gave Bangladesh the necessary edge to win the first game.

Realistically, don’t expect much change in the team from them as the pitch and condition are expected to remain the same.

Australia would look to regain some form and create a strong backup core for the upcoming T20 world cup, which they definitely don’t have now.

Bangladesh would look to keep up the momentum and fine-tune the necessary aspects to be better in this format.
