Shahriar Nafees likely to be assigned role in BCB

Former Bangladesh captain and left-handed opener Shahriar Nafees might take a new role at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).

The 35-year-old batsman told reporters that he got a call from the chairman of cricket operation committee of BCB, Akram Khan, who offered him a job as a manager.

Nafees, however, said he is yet to receive an official job offer.

Nafees played his last international game back in 2013. Since then, he scored ample of runs at the domestic level, and he was at the centre of contention to be a part of the national team again, but never made it to the national team again.

“Akram Bhai called me recently. He asked me whether I’m available to take a job at BCB. I told him if I get an official offer, I’ll happily accept that. Akram Bhai told me he’ll let me know later,” Nafees said.

The former opener represented the Tigers in 24 Tests, 75 ODIs and one T20I. He was Bangladesh’s first captain in T20Is.

Nafees scored 2201 runs in ODIs with four centuries and 13 half-centuries. He also has a Test century against Australia.

Nafees was more successful in First-class cricket where he played 124 matches and scored 8141 runs with 15 centuries and 48 half-centuries, reports UNB.
