Premier league's notable signings: From Diaz to Weghorst

The deadline day of the transfer window was presumably rife with incomings and outgoings for Premier League clubs.

As expected, few Premier League sides ended up with notable signings largely due to the rigidity of the transfer window arising from precautions caused by Covid-19 which led to clubs not being willing to let players leave during mid-season.

Some of the clubs, however, being desperate, tried to maximise the window despite a serious lack of resources available in the market. Here are some extraordinary signings Premier league clubs made.

Luis Diaz to Liverpool

Luis Diaz is a statement signing for Liverpool who is one to watch for the future. The Colombian is one of those with immense talent coming from Latin America. His ability to take on defenders and dribble past them with ease and his scintillating pace are the noticeable aspects of his game.

But what makes him stand out is his technical ability to hold the ball and tactical awareness to unleash a pass at the best possible moment.

Dejan Kulusevski to Tottenham Hotspurs

As far as Antonio Conte is concerned, Dejan Kulusevski is exactly what Tottenham needs at the moment.

An unorthodox winger who is 6'1 and possesses the technique to make progressive passes into dangerous areas.

Dejan Kulusevski, mostly played as a winger, can also thrive in a 3-5-2 formation which might have caught the eyes of Antonio Conte, who apparently pursued him at Inter. However, his fitness being an issue lately, the move can backfire and it was wise of Tottenham not to go for a permanent deal.

Philippe Coutinho to Aston Villa

With Anwar El Ghazi and Trézéguet options not entertained by Steven Gerrard, and injury to Leon Bailey put Aston Villa in a desperate position to sign a winger,  perhaps, that Phil Coutinho recruitment was one of the shrewd signings of this window. Already promising, Phil Coutinho under Gerrard might prove to be a phenomenal signing.

Hwang Hee-chan to Wolves

Wolves' decision to exercise the option to buy for the South Koreans was quietly done. Given how impressive he was in this stint for Bruno Lage's team, he is probably one of the prudent businesses done by wolves this window.

Lucas Digne to Aston Villa

Everton letting one of their best players leave after an alleged fallout between Rafa and Digne shows the sheer lack of planning ahead at the top of Everton hierarchy. However, credit to Aston Villa for how they availed Lucas Digne.

Bruno Guimaraes to Newcastle United

Known for his ability to make progressive passes and winning of crucial balls, he will probably have to play an important role if Newcastle are to survive.

Christian Eriksen to Brentford

After being announced unable to play football again when he collapsed on the field last year, Christian Eriksen returning to professional football is huge news. Brentford signing him surprised everyone but it will be interesting to see Eriksen in the premier league.

Wout Weghorst to Burnley

Wout Weghorst is a top signing for the clarets and fits perfectly to the system Sean Dyche applies at the club. Tall and excellent in the air, and even a better finisher with his feet, what strikes everyone is his ability to link up with teammates.
