Goals from Matheus Cunha and substitute Malcom helped defending champions Brazil retain their Olympic gold medal on Saturday as they beat Spain 2-1 in the men's football final.

Mikel Oyarzabal had equalised for the Europeans in the second half, giving hope to the Spanish seeking their second football title after Barcelona 1992, reports The Straits Times citing Reuters.

But Malcom's strike in the 108th minute of extra time sealed the win for the Samba Boys.
