Manchester City - Liverpool title race is spicing up

As the Premier League steps towards the business end of the season, an exciting two-way title race looks to be on the cards for football enthusiasts.

Premier League is known to be the most competitive league in the world. The top 6 sides in the current Premier League table all have been title contenders in the past few seasons.

But this season has mostly been about Manchester City and Liverpool. Other big sides like Chelsea, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal have dropped points on the way.

After 29 matchdays, Manchester City is on top with 70 points and Liverpool is sitting 2nd just a point behind. The teams below them are out of the race with Chelsea sitting 3rd with 59 points, 10 behind 2nd placed Liverpool with a game in hand.

Though the title race seems to be a two-way affair, competition is stern for the Champions League places. Chelsea apparently have a firm hold on the 3rd place, but Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United are all fighting for the 4th place.

Arsenal is currently 4th with a game in hand, but must not rest assured as Tottenham and Manchester United are both nearby.

Coming back to the title race, it's anyone’s game at the moment. Manchester City is one of the most dominant clubs in the world under Pep Guardiola. A squad as strong and deep as any, Manchester City have the ability to defeat any club on any given day.

Liverpool have also been persistent the whole season with good performances. Mohammad Salah has been the player of this season in addition to the new attacking flair in Luis Diaz. Jurgen Klopp’s passion and tactics have always pulled them over the line.

There is a potential title decider match scheduled on 10th April where Manchester City go up against Liverpool at the Etihad. The match will potentially decide the fate of the Premier League provided that the teams do not slip up on their other fixtures, which is quite uncertain in the Premier League.

Liverpool has a tougher round of fixtures facing Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City in the last 9 fixtures of the season. But to their defence, they have an easier Champions League opposition in Benfica.

On the other hand, Manchester City will go up against Atletico Madrid in the UCL.

All in all, a heated end to the Premier League is up on the cards with great teams competing against each other. Whatever the results might be, it promises to be a treat for football lovers around the globe.
