Bangladesh opt to bat against Windies

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat first against visiting West Indies in the first Test of a two-match series at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Thursday.

Tigers have handed maiden Test cap to Nayeem Hasan at a simple ceremony earlier on the day, according to a UNB report.

There are three changes in Bangladesh eleven that played against Zimbabwe in the second Test in Dhaka early this month as Nayeem Hasan got a spot alongside skipper Shakib Al Hasan and Soumya Sarkar's return, replacing Liton Kumar Das, Khaled Ahmed, and Ariful Haque respectively.

Shakib, 31, missed the Test series against Zimbabwe because of surgery on an injured finger in September, reports bdnews24.

Bangladesh XI: Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarkar, Mominul Haque, Mahmudullah Riyad, Shakib Al Hasan (captain), Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mithun, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Nayeem Hasan.
