Bangladesh make a good start beating Bhutan

Hosts Bangladesh made a good start in the South Asian Qualifiers of the Dhaka Bank FIBA Asia Champions Cup- 2021 beating Bhutan by 61-49 points in the opening match at Dhanmondi wooden floor gymnasium in the city on Tuesday, reports UNB.

The winners led the first half by 35-31 points.

Earlier, State Minister for Youth and Sports Dr Biren Sikder inaugurated the meet at a simple ceremony.

Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Syed Shaheed Reza was  present on the occasion as the special guest.

Bangladesh Basketball Federation (BBF) President Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin and BBF General Secretary AK Sarkar were also present on the occasion.

Five South Asian countries-Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, the Maldives and hosts Bangladesh - were taking part in the South Asian qualifiers.

The champions and runners-up teams will qualify for the 2nd phase of the meet.
