Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by seven wickets to progress to the Super Four of the Asia Cup 2022 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in the United Arab Emirates on Tuesday.

Bangladesh will now have to beat Sri Lanka on Thursday to advance to the Super Four stage.

Batting first after winning the toss, Skipper Shakib Al Hasan decided to bat first in their first match in the tournament.

They scored 127 runs in 20 overs losing seven wickets, setting a 128-run target for Afghanistan.

In reply, Afghanistan chased the target in 18.3 overs losing 3 wickets.

According to bdnews24.com, Afghanistan’s Najibullah Zadran put up a scintillating display of attacking batting against the seamers after their spinners strangled Bangladesh to ease to a 7-wicket victory and make it two wins in as many games in the Asia Cup.

Bangladesh spinners tried to keep the pressure up until 14 overs by restricting the Afghans to 65 for 3 but Najibullah (43 off 17 balls) then blasted six sixes and coasted to the victory with nine balls to spare at Sharjah on Tuesday.

Bangladesh will take on Sri Lanka on Thursday at Dubai International Stadium.
